Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) approved on April 20 the joint application by Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics and Asustek Computer for the production of a standardized notebook docking station until April 19, 2009. This comes as part of an effort by notebook makers to standardize components in order to raise the market share of non-branded notebooks, an initiative referred to as the “Mobile Alliance” among Taiwan-based notebook manufactures and distributors.
