Following in the footsteps of Napster, RealMedia and so many others, Microsoft will offer a subscription download music service. The provision of this service is an attempt on Microsoft's part to claw back some of the ground lost between it and Apple’s iTunes service, and will allow people to download unlimited tracks on a monthly basis for one set fee to be played on a number of different media systems. These media systems will probably wind up including the Xbox 360.
