BenQ to acquire Siemens handset division

BenQ today announced that the company has reached an agreement with Siemens AG to acquire the German vendor’s handset division. After the acquisition, BenQ will become the world’s fourth largest handset vendor, with annual shipments of more than 50 million units, according to company chairman KY (Kuen-Yao) Lee. In addition, the added sales from the Siemens AG handset unit should help BenQ record revenues in excess of US$10 billion this year, said Lee.
